Swe-reading gets a jump start
We're very proud to announce the successful launch of the Letto by our Swedish partner Bonnier through Scandinavia's largest e-book site, Adlibris.
The Adlibris Letto is a customized version of the BeBook One tailored to the Swedish market.
Adlibris has been following e-reading and e-book trends for years.
"Over the past decade there's been a lot of talk about e-books in Sweden, but since there were no e-readers, publishers started to lose interest," says Pär Svärdson, CEO of Adlibris. "And since there wasn't a big market for e-books in Sweden, e-readers from outside Sweden weren't launched here either. So it seemed the time was ripe to finally push hard to get a market for e-books going in Sweden."
Slutsåld ...
... means "Sold Out" in Swedish. Within one week the Letto was completely sold out, proof that Svärdson was right on target that Sweden is ready to start e-reading. Apart from a large selection of Swedish books available from the Adlibris website, the Letto ships with four Swedish bestsellers already installed and a free book of the Letto user's choice.
Of course Adlibris will be restocked as soon as possible, to avoid disappointed Swedish customers.
Easy to use
One of the most important goals of Adlibris was that the device and the bookstore must be user friendly. Bonnier/Adlibris ably achieved their ambition.
"It's exciting that Adlibris has created a simple and modern Swedish e-book platform," says Håkan Rudels, marketing director for Bonnierförlagen. "We are taking our 200-year-old traditions into a new era. Already there are 500 Swedish titles available for Letto and from 2010 on, all new Swedish books from Bonnierförlagen will come out as e-books."
Visibility
Kamiel Keeris, Commercial Director, for BeBook: "The cooperation between BeBook and Bonnier/Adlibris offers exceptional visibility of BeBook throughout Scandinavia and marks a significant first step in the presence of the ereader and ebooks on the Scandinavian consumer market."
